When you have a water well you can run it dry if you remove enough water, since i upgraded from the old pump it has happened once already so that's dangerous and also why i needed to know how much water there is, everytime i needed to open up the hatch of the water well and measuring it with a long rope with a weight on the end, it's also dangerous to run pump's dry because it can damage the motor and the turbine's inside.
So this is my cheap solution to know how much water there is in my water well instead of paying over 500€ for a special ultrasound sensor which only shows that it's or too low or has just enough water.
As you can see in the diagram i have four level's for the water height in the well
Here is a list of everything i used:
It's quite straight forward, making a hole and mounting all the water sensors in the IP68 boxes, putting 2 wago's in every box so that in the future i can exchange the sensor easely if needed.
Making sure the wire is tight in the box so it's completely sealed as it will be in water for the rest of time, and with zipties mounting the boxes to the 2 meter long pvc pipe with a weight on the end so it stays straight.
For the Led's it's also straight forward make 4 holes in the electrical box and common one side of all the light to each other and connect that side to positive, for the negative you connect it to the float switches and connect the return wires to the led lights.
All the light will light up if the water is high enough exept the last one because the last float switch in the water is mounted upside down so it isn't always on and lights when the water is too low.
In the future i'm planning on installing a relay inline with the led/buzzer so it will shutdown the water pump if the led/buzzer is on.
