Small Wind Turbine

I wanted to see if i had enough wind to maybe generate some energy from a wind turbine so i created a small wind turbine from an old dc motor i had lying around. I connected a powerbank to get charged from the turbine and added some leds to the output to slowly discharge the battery and see if the turbine can maintain it.

Everything was made from scraps:

  • The turbine blades were made from acrilic later on changed out the blades for some PVC blades that had a bether angle.
  • Old dc motor from a remote car later on changed it with an ac motor from an old printer.
  • Battery Powerbank that had a broken case but still worked great.
  • Full-wave bridge rectifier and some capacitors from an old psu.
  • Metal scraps and bearings from old projects.

It worked quite well for some time. The only drawback was the noise the ac motor made, it was a great little project and confirmed that the location has enough wind to produce some electricity altough there are some days where theres almost no wind.

I forgot to make videos and pictures of the second version that was a little bigger and bether made but you get the idea.
